    When did you start your website and why?

    Our website was started in Sept 2004. We wanted a global way to share our richly caribbean fragranced candles with a wider group of people ... Jamaicans love our candles as do visitors to our island. Selling our candles online is our way of giving you a piece of the islands without your leaving home.

    Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

    Banyan's website features most of product line, which is primarily candles. Our candles are categorized by fragrance, candle wax type & bath & body related items. We are a for-profit limited liability business with a e-commerce site.

    What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

    Advertising the site and getting a constant stream of interested traffic

    What has been the easist part of operating your website?

    Administration and disribution. We are very organized and our website developers did a great job.

    What was your biggest mistake?

    Not doing more to advertise sooner.

    Who maintains your website and why?

    We have a company that hosts our website and updates.

    Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

    We have been able to meet the needs of repeat buyers who returned home to the USA after visiting Jamaica that wanted more Banyan candles We have been able to keep customers informed of any new products etc as they are introduced We have been able to get feedback from our customers, which is crtical to product development and other customer service objectives

    What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

    E-commerce is essential and will only grow with the passage of time

    What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

    Fantastic

    What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

    Definitely helped my website

    What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

    So far it has been in store promotions, product labels etc

    What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

    newspaper advertising

    What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

    I need to think about that
